You vs Yourself

Is life giving you the short end of the stick? Do you consistently feel how the opinions of others affect the goals you’d love to achieve? How that little voice tells you, to relax and don’t work so hard; only to keep you from moving forward?

You see, questions like this help differentiate you from yourself. “You” refers to the passionate, hopeful, and ambitious person wanting a change for a better life, or dream life. “Yourself” refers to the body of which your mind is controlling, often loves to be “comfortable,” or that little voice in your head that fills you with doubts.

Here’s an example:

You want to start eating healthier and lose weight, get into a ripped body, or simply slim down a couple of pounds. You want to do that because understandably it is the better, the healthier, and the more beneficial to live your life, the best way possible.

Now here’s the problem, it sounds great! You’ll start ASAP but then that voice begins to give you all the reasons NOT to. Too much work, why do I need to cook if I can pick something up, or why not start tomorrow?

Every single excuse to NOT improve yourself.

What can I do about it?

Well first off, you need to understand you and yourself, Ying and Yang, the good and the bad. Once you understand that, you control your own actions, and that’s when progress occurs.

*going back to the example* 6 months later you look amazing! Tone body, learned how to cook, made a group of friends on Instagram who has similar goals and aspirations. You have ultimately conquered those negative thoughts, changed how your body looks, feel much more confident, can’t wait to help others achieve the goals you have already achieved, and smiling wherever you go!

Think about it, we live in a world where we care more about other peoples’ opinions and how we might look in their eyes when trying to achieve what we define as success. Everyone will have difficulties trying to accomplish their goals and there will be external forces that may try to move you away from your goals and keep you in your comfort level. Some, you can control and others you can’t, but most importantly, control what you want to do. Do not let that lazy voice tell you to, “take it easy, go ahead and slack off” because “You deserve it”.

You are responsible for how many goals you want to accomplish. Whether you want to live a whatever life or a goal-orientated life, YOU are responsible for what you want to do.

For the next time you have a goal or a massive ambition for a better life, remember you must conquer yourself before you can conquer the world! Go for it and do your best to improve every day!
